On the way

As I get ready to head out to Canyons of the Ancients where I'm one of the artists in residence in September our local paper did a nice profile on me and my planned project.  I'm looking forward to drawing, writing, photographing and mapping in preparation for more formal studio pieces after I return.

I've been reading and thinking and seeing obvious parallels between the ancestral Puebloans who left SW Colorado in the 13th century when the climate changed and became dryer, making a harsh climate untenable and what we're facing today with climate change.  I'm looking forward to learning more about what is known about how these people moved throughout the southwest as understood through their pottery, their architecture and their cliff art.
